Some guys marry their wives for their looks. Others marry them for their personalities. Adam Drewery married his wife, Leslie Hodges, for these two reasons and thousands more.
Leslie is a pillar of support for Adam, as well as a sounding board and someone he knows he can trust and rely upon. She is his pick-me-up when he is down, and she is his biggest confidant. Leslie is also the one person who truly helped get Adam through his final year of grad school, and he knows that even when he feels down and out, his wife is always going to be there for him.
“For me personally, she’s a great partner to live life with,” Adam said. “Just having someone I can count on and rely on in difficult times. She’s made me a much better person. She’s helped me in being more empathetic to people’s life situations.”
Leslie is just an all-out amazing woman who makes for a great wife and an even better mother. She is so aware of her surroundings, and she is definitely someone who knows how to uplift people’s spirits. She is just a positive presence wherever she goes, and she is also very smart.
Along with her smarts, Leslie is not afraid to research things she does not know. Adam said that, for example, although she is an exemplary mother, Leslie still is constantly trying to find ways to be even better, and she is also a great parenting coach. That speaks volumes to who she is, as she is interested in doing what is right for her kids.
Iris (4) and Hazel (1) definitely love their mommy a lot, and they love spending time with her. They are being molded by their mother into these amazing children who will one day turn into amazing adults. But for now, as they do not understand that quite as much, they just love the nurturing and playful side of their mom.
“Iris said she likes that mom gives her hugs,” Adam said.
Leslie’s hugs are comforting, calming and so full of love. Her attentiveness to her kids is so full of love as well, and she is definitely the one person they can always count on to be on top of things.
“She does all the big things (gets doctor’s appointments scheduled; she found both their daycares; she’s just getting them into the things they need to get into),” Adam said. “Leslie is advocating for things that might not seem major but are. Overall, she’s just making sure everyone is okay.”
As a mother, this works wonders. Looking out for the good of her children is something she is always going to do, and her support for them is just amazing.
And when it comes to other people, she acts the same way. She treats everyone the same and wants what is best for everyone. In fact, the way Leslie treats others is one of the major values she holds near and dear to her heart, and it is one she shares with her husband.
“We both feel pretty strong on the golden rule (be patient, nice and tolerant),” Adam said. “People come from different backgrounds. People aren’t all out to get you. Have an open mind about life. Just generally being there to guide and make sure they have a sounding board in any situation.”
Adam’s children are always going to have their mother to look up to and to call upon, and he is always going to have his wife to do the same thing. He also knows that there are a lot of people in Leslie’s life who she treats extremely well.
No matter what someone has done, Leslie tends to give them the benefit of the doubt. She is a trusty friend to many, and she is not afraid to sacrifice much of herself to help out those in need. She is incredibly loyal and she always has other people’s backs, whether or not they have hers, and that is something Adam really admires about his wife.
Adam also admires the fact that Leslie is an extremely hard and diligent worker. He said she has worn many hats, both in the professional sense and on a personal level, and every time she continues to impress him.
She also impresses him with the amount of planning she does to make sure he and their kids are happy. Leslie loves to plan trips for her family to go on, and she has a great sense of adventure. Day in and day out she is just looking for ways to make memories and make sure her family is having a good time together.
As long as Leslie is involved, any moment truly does have a chance to become a memory. That is because of the amount of love she pours out, as well as how great her personality is. Whether they are camping, hiking, visiting Niagara Falls or playing video games, the fun times roll with Leslie.
“She has a great sense of humor,” Adam said. “I’m very sarcastic. She’s got a good sense of humor that can handle that. She’s very witty as well. We love to have fun together in whatever we do.”
It’s easy to get along with Leslie. And it’s not just because she is witty and funny, but because she is also open minded and patient. She is the kind of friend and family member you want around all the time because she cares so much and has a great big heart.
Adam is grateful they changed each other’s minds about not wanting to get into a serious, committed relationship with one another back when they met at Trops, as Leslie is his savior and the person he knows will always have his back. Leslie has made him a better man, father and friend, and for that he is eternally grateful.
