“Unbreakable” – The bond between mother and son

Meet Christina Childress, a true inspiration! Brought into this world on December 13, 1965, she was born and raised in the Detroit, Michigan area, where she grew up with 12 siblings.

Despite the challenges of being part of a large family, Christina never lost sight of her goals. She worked hard, stayed focused, and refused to let her circumstances define her. 

It’s easy to imagine how Christina could have acted out for attention, or gone down the wrong path, but that’s not what happened. Instead, she became a loving and successful mother of three wonderful children: Lanicia, Chynele and T.J. 

On this special day, T.J. wants to express his gratitude to his mom for her love, patience, and the positive influence she has had on his life. 

T.J. shared one of his childhood memories: “When I was in third grade, I dressed up as my favorite basketball player for Halloween. My mom took so much pride and enjoyment in using her eyelash mascara to make a goatee on my face. She loved and laughed at me when she was finished. I loved it too!” he said. 

Christina is a vivacious and colorful person whose personality and smile light up every room she enters! She enjoys spending time with her family and playing board games.

She has a big heart. Always willing to go the extra mile to make someone else’s day special. Christina is very detail-oriented, and she is deeply rooted in her faith. 

When Christina is not working as a contracted executive assistant, she can often be found at baseball games, watching TV, or spending time with her family.

In addition to doting on her three children, Christina is extremely happy when she gets to spend time with her three beautiful grandchildren: Cevyn, Landan and Khylee.

Her family is a true blessing to her. She shows her love for them by capturing every special moment with elaborate photoshoots during family gatherings.

“Anytime the family gets together, she always has to take pictures – we take them when we get there, during, and before everyone leaves. She does it no matter how much we fuss about it,” said a smiling T.J.

A unique and unexplainable connection exists between a mother and her only son. People who have experienced it know how extraordinary it is, but it is difficult to express in words. T.J. and his mother, Christina, possess this bond, and T.J. wants his mother to know that he recognizes its significance.

“I am the person I am today because of you. Looking back, I realize you were strict with me when I was younger for a reason. Whenever I find myself in difficult situations, I often wonder how you would handle them. Because of that, I feel confident in my ability to handle anything that comes my way. I love you now and forever.”
