Life for Elisa Simpkins has not always been easy. She moved from a third world country when she was 10 and lived on her own at 17.
And yet, it is this diversity that has helped shape her into the amazing woman she is today. After marrying the love of her life, Rod, at 23, they had two kids and are living a life full of hard work and honesty.
Anyone who knows Elisa and Rod knows they are a special couple with a whole lot of love for each other. They have an admiration for each, and their love never wavers.
“Elisa and Rod are the best partners with their kids, business and in life,” Elisa’s friend Akasha said. “She supports Rod in all his endeavors. She believes in him.”
Elisa is the type of wife who is by her husband’s side through thick and thin. She is his best friend and the one person he can always count on, and he is vulnerable around her.
“She’s strength when I’m weak,” Rod said. “An ear to listen when I need to talk. She always has my back. She’s simply the love of my life.”
Elisa brings out the best in Rod. She never gives up on him, and her drive and determination are things that help him have the same mentality.
He also knows a lot of people look up to Elisa as a sister figure, and her siblings in particular admire their big sister. They have all been through a lot together, but with Elisa in your corner, there is nothing you cannot get through.
Speaking of which, this ability to overcome anything is one of the many things that makes Elisa a great role model to Bryan and Olivia. With them both being in their teens, they have really gained an appreciation for what their mom has been through. They know getting to where she is at is not easy, but then again, their mother is not atypical.
“All she’s been through. Coming from Honduras at a young age. Her being a teacher and getting a master’s degree,” Rod said. “The guidance she gives my kids is amazing. To see where she came from and where she’s at now. She talks to my kids in real life terms.”
Elisa is not afraid to lay out the scenarios and get real with her kids. Her real-life experiences are things they can learn from, and they certainly do. She does a tremendous job preparing Bryan and Olivia for the real world, and they always go to their mom for advice.
Elisa’s teachings, especially about work ethic, have certainly gotten through to the kids too, as they both do sports and work jobs while going to school.
And as great a mother as she is, Elisa is a wonderful friend as well. She is there for the people who matter most in her life.
“Elisa is the truest blue of friends,” Akasha said. “I can always depend on Elisa to show up for me. Whether for my birthdays or the grand opening of my business, Elisa has proven time and time again I can depend on her. She literally has driven 10-plus hours just to spend 24 hours with me for my birthday.”
She certainly holds her friends close and is always showing up for them. Elisa is good in this way, and she is definitely appreciated for such.
Making friends is easy for Elisa too, as she is so personable and is not afraid to talk to people that others might not. In fact, she has even gone as far as talking to the janitor and finding out he was a semi-famous pianist, and had an older gentleman she clicked with essentially adopt her as his daughter.
That’s just the personality Elisa has.
She also has a knack for making memories. Rod of course loves spending every waking moment with his wife, and there have been some special times that stand out more than others.
“We love cruising,” Rod said. “We love long vacations and cruises. We’re definitely a gathering family. We love to cook and hang out and have fun. And try new restaurants in the area. We love going to comic shows and seeing comics.”
It’s all about who is accompanying you, and Rod has the best date for life. Elisa is his better half and the one he loves doing everything with, and he is astonished by her beauty day in and day out. He also just admires her so much, and he cannot wait to see what the future holds in store for them.
“Elisa has been my very best friend for over 22 years. She has become my sister. I always call her my number one!” – Akasha
