Sometimes, you just need that loving push from your mother. That is what Jayson Burns received throughout his growing up years from his mother, Marsha Caldwell, and he could not be more grateful for that.

Especially when it comes to his faith.

“There were definitely those moments when I didn’t want to go to church,” Jayson said. “She made sure I was there every Sunday with her. It guided how I moved through my adulthood. It grounded me and kept me faithful… A lot of my success I would attribute to my faith.”

Thanks to both his faith and his mother, Jayson is a very successful individual. He does not forget where he came from, and he appreciates all that his mom has ever done for him.

Speaking of which, Jayson said in a way, he and his mother grew up together. She was 18 when she had him, and the way he saw his mother constantly mature into an even greater mother than the day before was amazing. It is certainly something she was cut out for, as she took all of the shortcomings she experienced growing up and ensured her sons did not have to deal with those.

Another thing Marsha is cut out for is grandmotherhood, and she proves this time and again. She is the kind of grandmother who takes her positive motherly traits and uses them to her advantage in helping take care of her babies. She loves to spoil her grandkids, and she also loves to encourage them.

“She does an amazing job pouring into her grandkids,” Jayson said. “Whether it’s a daily text message with words of affirmation she gives them, or just showing them if you put God first in your life, things will definitely work out for you.”

The faith is strong with Marsha, and that is something people do not take for granted, whether it is her family or her friends. She is the kind of selfless, shirt-off-her-back individual who never puts herself first, and Jayson feels he is the philanthropist he is today because of this mindset his mother has always had.

Jayson loves to reflect upon all the great memories he has made with his mother too. He still enjoys thinking about all the basketball games his mom attended and how he had to make sure she was there before the game started. She never missed a game.

He remembers all the movies they watched together, and they still quote them to this day. Jayson also said any time they are together, it is like a precious memory. That is the kind of mindset his mother instilled in him, as she believes there is nothing more important than family and cherishing those moments with them.

At the end of the day, the outpouring of love and blessings Jayson and his brother received from their mother have been amazing. They could not be more thankful to have a mom like Marsha, and the grandkids are grateful to have a grandmother like her too.

“I appreciate everything that she’s done for me. I wouldn’t be where I am in life without her. The sacrifices that she made, I just want her to understand the appreciation that I have for her.” – Jayson
