‘City Boy Wins the Heart of Girl from the Burbs’ – There was no dodging Jenn

Charles Wurth went to the charity event with one thing on his mind. He wanted to win. The teams were separated, sneakers began to squeak, and the dodgeballs started to fly.

Suddenly, his priorities changed. Instead of knocking out his opponents, he wanted to “ask out” Jennifer. 

Jennifer, “Jenn,” grew up in Lenexa, a suburb of Kansas City. Her parents, Marilyn and Richard, raised her (along with two older brothers) to be hardworking, competitive and compassionate. 

These values have served Jenn well throughout her life. Jenn competed in gymnastics at a high level. She was a high school cheerleader and starred on the dance team. Jenn capitalized on her athletic abilities and made the cheer team in college. 

Charles noticed Jenn immediately that day. Whether it was her athletic prowess, beautiful smile, or loving nature, he made his move and struck up a conversation. “I don’t remember who won the dodgeball tournament, but Jenn and I have been together ever since,” said Charles. 

“I knew she was special when she was able to handle my intense family with grace and kindness,” remembered Charles. “The love she showed for her family and mine is why I wanted to spend the rest of my life with her,” he said. 

The two married on August 22, 2015, and have built a wonderful life together. They have two amazing daughters, 5-year-old Sienna and 3-year-old Yara. The two girls have already begun to follow in mom’s footsteps, inheriting her love and aptitude for gymnastics and dance. 

Jenn has a zeal for art and hopes to instill that creative passion in her children. “She encourages them to let their imaginations run wild. To be creative in their art and in the way they solve problems. She teaches them to see the world as a place with endless possibilities,” said Charles. 

It’s no surprise that Jenn found a profession that enabled her to unleash her innovation and leadership skills to the fullest. As a senior manager of the UX design team for Procore Technologies, she can channel her creativity to find unique solutions to a variety of problems. “Creativity flows through her,” said Charles. 

We asked Charles what he admired most about his wife. “My wife is an extraordinary blend of intelligence, diligence and creative-loving-energy,” he said. “She is a constant source of inspiration for our family. She is my rock and the love of my life,” he continued.

In their free time, Charles and Jenn love to travel, enjoy a nice glass of wine, and people-watch. They were able to do all three on their trips to Italy and Croatia. 

Charles wants to thank Jenn for being an amazing wife and mother. She has had an immeasurable influence on his personal growth. “She not only makes me want to be the best version of myself, but she lovingly shows me how to get there,” he said. 

Jenn has the uncanny ability to make those around her strive for excellence in everything they do. She is a leader in her professional field. She guides her family through the turbulence of everyday life as she creatively dodges and overcomes any obstacles that come their way. 

“We are a work in progress, but I love our relationship. I love her to the moon and back,” said Charles.
