Born 60 years ago to this very day, Sue Ellen Ballard is truly one of the good ones. She is one of the most genuine people you will ever meet, as her heart is always in the right place.
Many people will attribute this to the fact that Sue Ellen is a devoted Christian woman. She loves to read novels, but her favorite book of all time is the Bible. It is chalk full of the wisdom and the morals and values she exudes on a daily basis, and her Christianity shines through in the way she treats people.
“I admire her devotion to family; hers and mine,” Sue Ellen’s husband of 26 years, Mickey, said. “I admire her passion for the Word of God as she studies scripture every morning. I also admire her willingness to give of herself for the betterment of whatever situation in which she finds herself.”
As a family woman, there is none better. Sue Ellen loves Mickey and their son, Jake (22), unconditionally.
As a friend, she is constantly bringing out the best in everyone. She treats people with nothing but respect, and she is a confidant you want to have in your corner in life.
As a woman of God, Sue Ellen is someone who is extremely devoted to Him. She does not miss her morning Bible reading or Sunday sermons, and that is very admirable.
Sue Ellen is also a retired choral music educator. She spent nearly 30 years instilling her musical knowledge in the minds of students from middle school all the way through college. She still teaches one night a week at church, and she displays her piano and organ-playing expertise on a regular basis.
She shows her compassion on a daily basis too.
“Sue Ellen shows constant love and support,” Mickey said. “She is a very generous soul and would do anything within her power and resources to see another succeed. Even when disappointed with someone, there is never a question that she loves them.”
At the end of the day, Sue Ellen wants to see everyone happy and healthy. She brings out the best in everyone, and she is dedicated to caring deeply.
She is also a phenomenal mama bear. Even with Jake being all grown up, she is still there for him constantly, loving on him and supporting him through whatever he needs.
“My mom has taught me many things throughout my life, from how to fold a fitted sheet all the way to advice about my job as a choir teacher, which she did for many years,” Jake said. “However, I think the most important thing my mom has taught me is how to relate to others and walk in their shoes. She is a beautifully emotional and intensely compassionate person, and I wish to be as kind and understanding to others as she is.”
Jake said his mom is also a constant source of positivity. She spreads it wherever she goes, as she has a lot of joy down in her heart.
Along with seeing the bright side of every situation, Jake said his mom treats his father right. She is forgiving and patient, and she is Mickey’s best friend.
She of course is a loyal individual who her husband and son can count on as well. Sue Ellen is there in times of need and times of triumph, and she is loved because of this.
“Mom has some of the greatest listening ears on Earth,” Jake said. “She is someone who will always take time for people who need someone to open up to.”
Sue Ellen is very genuine too. When she asks you what is going on, it is because she truly cares and truly wants to help.
“She is beautiful with a lovely smile, gentle spirit, and a warm heart,” Mickey said. “She is extremely talented at the organ and piano, and as a music educator. She has the gift of hospitality and works hard to make others feel welcomed and comfortable. She is a gift giver and a note writer. She is a supportive listener, a gentle encourager, and a fierce defender. Nobody is a stranger for long with her.”
The thing about Sue Ellen is you never have to question where you stand with her. As long as you treat her family well and do not cross a line, she is going to always be someone you can count on.
And even if that does happen, Sue Ellen is willing to give people the benefit of the doubt.
At the end of the day, Sue Ellen is irreplaceable and second to none. She loves to love and she lives to care. She is a strong Christian woman and a great friend to all, and she is deeply appreciated.
“God has blessed me beyond measure with a Godly wife who has been a true partner in life, in music and in ministry. I can’t even begin to imagine, nor do I want to, what life would have been like without her. Her passion for the Lord, for her family, and for the church is evident in everything she does. She is truly an example for young ladies to emulate as described in Proverbs 31.” – Mickey
