Her knowledge of 80s movies is second to none. She loves Back to the Future and could watch reruns of it all the time and never grow tired of it. She may have a particular fondness for movies of the past, but she is always looking forward.
Kate Lieberman is the type of person whose way you do not want to get in, nor the kind of person you underestimate. Strong-willed and determined, she is consistently looking to make sure her kids’ futures are nothing short of spectacular and that they are winning the race of life.
Her strength, her conviction and her forthright heart are what give her the ability to overcome any obstacle. Underestimate her at your peril, because while she may exceed YOUR expectations, she’s really meeting the bare minimum of hers, that of her family, and those who love and revere her.
Never has a person been so admired by those closest to them. Her heart and her spirit are guiding lights for those who find themselves wandering in the dark. You cannot come by this ability to put a heart at ease when it is troubled through happenstance or luck.
When it comes to Kate’s family, there is no one who loves and reveres her more than her children. Her guiding light and her true north, she aims to be the rock in their lives that they can always depend on.
There is no such thing as doing too much for those she loves, and her children are an example of that love. She would say they have been the source of strength for her in moments that test even the most ardent spirit, but the truth is that she has imbued upon them the ability to overcome, to never settle, and to never accept less than you deserve in life.
“She’s a do-it-all mom,” Kate’s boyfriend Josh Will said. “She is 100 percent there for her kids all the time. Kate is the kind of mother every child hopes to remember when they are older, but never believed existed. A mother with a true relationship with her children based on love and respect. She’s not just someone to talk to or vent to; she is the kind of person you’re open to make yourself vulnerable to. The kind of giving heart and spirit that restore one’s faith in life and love. Tirelessly, effortlessly, selflessly dedicated to her children, friends and family, you’d be left to wonder where someone with that much love in their heart found the time and energy.”
It is all about the kids. Kate loves them with all her heart, and she is their biggest cheerleader.
She is also the kind of friend and mother you can come to in a moment when you need that shoulder to cry on. If either of the kids are struggling, they know they can go to Mom and she will be right there. If a friend is in crisis, they believe in her ability to help them see through. If a family member needs guidance, they trust her intuition and love to believe in her.
Her children are not the only people Kate does this for. As selfless an individual as there is in life, because of that, her friends love and cherish her. They know her loyalty, and they know the lengths she is willing to go to help someone in need.
“She goes out of her way to help people if she has the means to do so,” Josh said. “She is incredibly engaging with people. She commands their attention because she genuinely cares to hear what they have to say. She teaches the children who are told, ‘No,’ or ‘You can’t,’ or ‘You WON’T;’ and they all LOVE her for it. Her students and colleagues at El Camino High School love her as a teacher, as a person, and as a friend.”
Kate is invested. She is the type of friend, confidant, daughter, sister and girlfriend who has a genuine heart and never shies away from making that known.
As a teacher, there is no equal. Children born into struggle or an inability to reach their potential, she drags it out of them. She fights to teach them they have the ability to overcome hardship or the difficulty of being dealt the unlucky hand. It’s the kind of love and dedication only the most dependable, and honorable people on earth can tap into, and she does it effortlessly because the kids see in her eyes a soul who can be trusted.
“It’s not just the kids that love her, it is her coworkers as well,” Josh said. “She’s got the personality where she’s always upbeat, even when she is struggling for the energy. The kids just gravitate toward her because of her ability to make them believe and know she cares for their well-being. Like her co-workers, the kids also adore her quirkiness. She’s got this energy that’s funny. The kids love and trust her.”
Kate shows up to work each day with a smile on her face and kindness in her heart, and she spends each day making a difference in people’s lives without breaking a sweat. That’s character, and that’s heart.
She’ll never admit it, but Kate’s biggest impact has been on the life of her boyfriend, Josh, who admits to “wandering a bit lost in life before he met her; she is the most intelligent, strong-willed, loving, amazing woman I have ever known,” and has helped him see the good in life, and people (albeit slowly) once again.
“Kate has taught me to trust people again and trust relationships again,” Josh said. “She is 100 percent committed to our relationship. She doesn’t waver. She trusts my ability to see right from wrong and allows me to convey that in the clumsiest ways possible to the most important people in her life. She will never truly know just how her ability to trust in me and believe in my heart has changed my ability to believe that it is possible to be loved in life. She is truly the most amazing person I have ever known.”
“Kate filled a hole in me,” Josh went on to say. “I thought the rest of my human existence was going to be myself and Zelda walking the earth like Caine in ‘Kung Fu.’ I never aspired to seek out love or happiness with another person, because I just believed that life’s journey brings you to the important impactful people in your life. Over time, your ability to believe in that tends to waver. All it took was 45 years, two rejections, 31 dates and a Killers concert, and I found the person I want to love for the rest of my life. We’ve been together ever since, and every single day has given me a new appreciation for life, love, and the possibility of what could be. There is no magic elixir in life to give anyone who’s heart aches for peace. But the right person by your side to hold your hand in unsteady moments, that gives you strength when you lack it, and comfort when you need it, and is the closest thing one could ever come to experiencing a second chance at life.”
