Emily Cortez is an amazing wife and mother who has dedicated her life to caring for her family.
Her husband, Rod, said Emily would do anything for her children, Abby, Sam and Lyla.
“She is the most caring and loving mother to our kids,” Rod said. “She puts the kids’ needs and wants ahead of her own. Everyday, she gives the kids anything and everything they could want.”
Somehow, she is able to take the kids to their events – including soccer, basketball, softball and dance – while working as a Digital Project Manager. As busy as she is, Emily still finds time to work out and ride her Peloton and walk their dog.
Family is the number one thing in Emily’s life, but she is also a wonderful friend. She loves to go out to dinner, play Bunco, and meet for a monthly book club with them.
Rod and Emily met through friends while on a night out in Chicago, although they didn’t start dating until a month after they first met. Their first kiss was at a late-night bar in the Lincoln park neighborhood of Chicago.
“We always had a great time together, and I knew she would be my wife when we were watching the TV show Friends late at night at my place,” Rod said with a smile.
Together they have made numerous memories, but the ones that stick out most to Rod are their honeymoon in Maui, when they first moved into their new house, going to friends’ weddings together in Ohio and Iowa, and when he first saw her after her weeklong vacation with her family to Michigan.
“Of course,” he said, “Nothing will have meant more to me than being with Emily for the births of our children.”
The couple have been married for more than 17 years, and Rod said that just being with Emily has made him a better person. She helps keep him calm and removes stress from his life by being so unselfish and making sure the family is cared for.
Rod is impressed by Emily’s perseverance, her love for her family and friends, her sacrifice for the kids, and by the way she puts others above herself.
“I watch Emily every day in amazement,” Rod said. “I’m incredibly lucky and blessed to have met her and fortunate to have her as the mother of my children. I appreciate her and couldn’t imagine marrying anyone else. Happy Mother’s Day from Abby, Sam, Lyla and me. Thank you for everything you do for us. We love you!”
