Mothers are the people who are there for you from day one. From the moment you are conceived to every moment following, you guys are connected to the hip in a way.
And when it comes to some mothers, the bond they form with their children is something that is indescribable. She is the person who is there for her kids during the good times and the bad. She is the role model and the one her kids call upon when they have kids of their own.
For Daniel Olsheski and Mallory Dibble, this is exactly how they feel about their mother, Louise. Louise is the kind of mother who they have always had a special bond and connection with, and that is not changing anytime soon.
“Our mom is not just a mother to us, she has become our friend,” Mallory said. “We can go to her for advice, validation, empathy and beyond. She hears us when we are sad or worried and helps us to come up with solutions to situations that often feel bigger than us. While we have long since moved away from home, our mother continues to offer advice when asked, and she does so without passing judgment on the problem at hand. Our mom and dad have both raised us to be independent and forward thinking, and our mom is a true role model on what it looks like to be just that.”
Thanks to their mother, both Daniel and Mallory have been able to think for themselves while spreading their wings. They know that no distance can keep them from remaining connected to their mother, and no amount of time will distance them from needing their mother.
Their father Larry knows this, too. He knows that his wife is the kind of mother who has always been there for their kids, and they will continue to call upon her during times of need and times of triumph.
“She was just so loving and put our children first,” Larry said. “She took a big step back in her career when raising the kids. She went to night school to get her MSW degree while our children were very young. It’s not easy what she did for our family.”
Having kids is all about sacrifice, and that is exactly what Louise has done throughout the entirety of Daniel and Mallory’s lives. She has gone without so they could have everything they could ever ask for or need.
She has done the same for her husband too, and Daniel and Mallory seeing the relationship between their parents gave them a guidebook for how to treat their spouses.
“She makes me feel loved,” Larry said. “She makes me feel respected. She makes me feel important. She makes me feel like I am a good father. She makes me feel like I am a good grandfather. We never argue (we have too much respect for each other), and hardly ever disagree about important things. She helps me to prioritize. She puts up with and encourages my sports fanaticism.”
Louise is the kind of wife who does things with her husband because it is what he enjoys. She believes in give and take and the importance of a little compromise, and she also knows the importance of encouragement and nudging in the right direction. She has always been Larry’s biggest cheerleader and beacon of support, and he appreciates that.
Larry also appreciates the kind of grandmother his wife is. They have all grandsons, and Louise treats each and every one of them with the same amount of love and commitment.
“Our Mom is such a good ‘Mammom’ to five wonderful grandsons because she is not afraid to get on the ground and play with the boys,” Mallory said. “When it is time for a story, the boys go to Mammom for some ‘cuggles,’ and she has been known to have all five kids sitting on her lap at the same time.”
Daniel added, “They all run to the door looking for her when they know she is on her way… even if she is hours away from actually arriving!”
That must be quite the picture! A picture of what it looks like to have all your years of true sacrifice, dedication and selflessness pay off.
Speaking of selflessness, Louise shows that in her work every day. She is a social worker and a respected Red Cross Volunteer, where she puts her clients first each and every day, just like she puts all the people in her life before all else.
“She’s able to maintain a level of professionalism while caring for people,” Larry said. “It’s amazing how she can counsel someone who just suffered a significant loss and maintain coherence; I don’t know how she does it. I certainly couldn’t.”
That’s just Louise in a nutshell though. She is amazing while also being an unexplainable human being. Everything about her is truly special, and she is beloved because of this.
