She came to this country with not much money to her name and without being able to speak the language. Yet, now we sit here over four decades later talking about her as a successful business owner, a wonderful friend, a doting partner and, probably most importantly, the best mom and grandmother her kids and grandkids could ever ask for.
From a young age, Mitra always showed something special in her. You could tell that she was bound for greatness, and when she moved to the U.S. from Iran after a quick stop in Germany, her journey to achieve the American Dream officially started.
As an entrepreneur, Mitra has crushed her goals. She is an expert hair stylist who is a people person and who takes great care of her clients.
As a family woman, she is the best partner, mother and grandmother around. She is an unforgettable and irreplaceable soul, and her partner and children love her with all their heart. They know they could not do it without her, and they are in constant awe of all the amazing things she does for them and as a whole.
“The best compliment which I have ever given to my life partner was to let her know that her presence in my life is the best thing which has ever happened to me,” Steve said.
And that was as genuine a statement as they come. Mitra is Steve’s beloved better half and his best friend, and he does not want to begin to imagine where he would be without her being in his life.
At the same time, their children (Shiva and Arya) look up to Mitra with every fiber of their being. They know their mother has such great character and treats everyone the right way, and that she would give the shirt off her back if it was needed.
“She embodies the essence of selflessness, and her love transcends mere bounds; it stretches beyond the ends of the earth,” Shiva said. “If she has $10 in her pocket, she will find a way to give you $20. That’s what makes her a truly exceptional mother.”
A mother is selfless beyond imagination, and that is exactly what Mitra is as a mom. She has always taken care of her kids, and she has always been there for them. She ensured they did not ever go without anything, and the mother that she is really helped shape them into the parents they are today.
Speaking of their kids, Mitra is a phenomenal grandmother. She would do anything for her grandbabies, and she is not afraid to spoil them either. At the same time, she instills a lot of the important lessons into them that she did Shiva and Arya.
“I always knew my mother would be an incredible grandmother, but there are no words for her love for Josephine and Veda,” Shiva said. “For my mother, there is no life without family, and her family is her entire world. I’ll never forget the day I told her and my dad I was pregnant… I could see the joy not just in their eyes, but also in their soul.”
That’s exactly what you get with Mitra. You get a whole lot of genuineness, and someone who truly loves with all her heart. She cares deeply.
“She does everything for everyone,” Arya said. “She just truly loves everyone. She loves making people happy.”
At the end of the day, as long as the people around her are happy, Mitra is happy. She believes that everyone is capable of joy and living life to the fullest, and she tries to help as many people as possible achieve that.
“She is loving; caring; sharing; affectionate; sentimental; respectful; and shares common interests, goals and beliefs with me,” Steve said. “It’s easy to communicate with her, and she has single-handedly restored my once-shattered belief in love.”
Mitra does this for a lot of people. She helps people realize there are others around them that love them and care for them. There are people who want to see you happy and smiling.
Mitra is also the kind of person who is super dependable. No matter what it is, you can count on her to always keep her word and show up for you. She shows such compassion in that way, as well as an undying loyalty.
“I can always count on her,” Arya said. “She still helps me stay organized, and I’m sure my dad too. She cuts people’s hair, helps at the restaurant, helps with me, helps her household, always takes care of the animals, and still has time to take care of herself.”
Mitra has figured out a way to keep herself busy and helpful without spreading herself too thin. She looks out for others well before herself, but that does not mean she does not look out for herself either. She truly does have such great balance in her life, and she is appreciated for it.
She is also appreciated for the fact that she is never not there, and for the fact that she is always present. Mitra’s family loves her just as much as she loves them, and her kids hope to be able to provide for their kids even just a portion of what their mother provided for them. She is one of one, and she is certainly special and admired.
