One random workday, Kevin was asked to take Maritchu home from work because his boss said that he lived near her.

Flash forward to now, their 20th anniversary, loving each other and the life they built more than ever.

“I can’t imagine not being with her,” said Kevin. “She is one of the nicest and caring people I have known. She is a great mom and a great partner.”

Maritchu is the type of person who always has her friend’s back, always placing them in front of herself despite her own personal hardships.

“Even having to deal with her difficulties, she is still as happy as she has ever been,” said Kevin. “Happiness is simple for her and she always says, ‘Life is what you make of it. Walk around with a smile and life will be better.’”

Kevin says Martichu is great at the whole “traditional wife” thing. Now that she has free time, she loves to paint, make clothes, sew, take care of bonsai trees and even carve wood tikis. She has also recently been learning Japanese for her hopeful future trip.

Martichu is as good a mom to her son Mitchell as she is a wife to Kevin.

“She is tough, but caring, and she is goofy and has a good sense of humor,” said Kevin. “She cares about family and has tried to raise our son to be a good human being. Manners are of great importance to her and she has tried to instill that into our son. I see much of my wife in my son as he has grown.”

As their son grew up, Martichu was the type of mother who was always there for Mitchell. From soccer and basketball as a little child into a competitive and skilled volleyball player, she never critiqued or said much; she just wanted to watch their son grow.

Kevin is so thankful that over 20 years ago Maritchu said yes to a first date, the second time he asked. The day Martichu spilled a full can of paint in his house, he knew she was the one.

Kevin says her positive outlook has rubbed off on him over the years and that he is a much better person because of it.

He also added that striving to equal her parenting makes him try to be the best father possible, which in turn also makes him strive to be the best husband.

Kevin knows how lucky he is to have somebody like Maritchu in his life.

“Over the past 20 years, my love has only gotten stronger. Marriage is not always easy, but is always satisfying when you have a partner that you truly love with all your heart. I will never be perfect, but I can promise that I will always try to be better everyday and be true to you and Mitchell.” – Kevin
