Marjorie Maxon is an amazing wife and dog mom who not only takes care of her family, but also works full-time and runs her own successful business.

Her husband, Chris, is impressed that not only does she have a tenacious work ethic, but she is also a devoted Christian who would do anything to help someone in need.

“Marjorie has a great heart,” Chris said. “She has a wonderful and bubbly personality, and she loves doing things for other people.”

Chris and Marjorie met when he was calling on her former employer. She was his customer, but they quickly became friends and began dating in 2004.

“I knew she was the one when I got us stuck on an island for 26 hours,” Chris said. “We had to sleep on the boat in full rain gear as a gazillion bugs tried to devour us. She was an absolute trooper. Marjorie kept a positive attitude when we were in a rough spot. Looking back, it was sort of fun with the exception of the bugs, cut foot, and 95 degrees with humidity.”

The couple were married on February 12, 2007, by Marjorie’s dad, Marian, in Breckenridge, Colorado, in a grove of trees following a sleigh ride in 12 degrees and snow, a day Chris will never forget.

Marjorie works for Palmetto Family Dentistry, and owns her own company called Emerald Poppies. She makes earrings and ornaments from vintage tins, and she has led her business to significant growth over the past year.

“Her creativity combined with the love of her product drives her every day,” Chris said. “Her customers love her products which she sold in 35 states this year!”

When she isn’t working, Marjorie travels with Chris to as many Citadel sporting events as they can. Photography is a passion of hers, so she enjoys time with Chris in the mountains, taking photos of sunrises and sunsets.

Marjorie also loves spending time with her dog, Barley, who she affectionately calls Bop.

“She loves Barley so much,” Chris said. “She takes care of him with treats and toys. This year she had a Christmas ornament made that looks just like him.”

Chris admires how hard Marjorie works at everything in her life. She does her prayer and devotional right when she gets out of bed, then she works hard for the dental practice. After work, she makes incredible meals for her and Chris, then works in her studio to make jewelry or does live showings online or in person for her clients.

Marjorie also helped Chris’s mom when she was fighting cancer, something Chris is thankful for and will never forget.

“Marjorie has been unbelievable in helping me through some struggles,” Chris said. “She is the rock of our family, and I love her more than words can say. Barley and I are so glad you are always there for us. We love you and thank you for everything you do for us!”
