She’s an even-tempered, ever-present family woman. She is happily retired, leaving her more time to spend with her husband, daughter, stepson and grandchildren. Kay Johnson loves her family with all her heart, and she has been a steadfast throughout their entire lives.

“She’s my partner and my life,” Kay’s husband Danny said.

Kay has been a part of Danny’s life for over 40 years, and he could not imagine a better woman to call his wife. She brings him so much joy and happiness, and she has been his better half for a long time.

She has also brought out the best in Danny over the years, just like she has done for her stepson Jarod and daughter Danielle (just remember, Kay, Jarod begged you for a baby sister). Kay is a role model in many ways, and her husband and children all look up to her, and now her grandchildren do too.

“She taught me how to persevere no matter the circumstances,” Jarod said.

Life has not always been easy for Kay, but she has a lot of strength and determination. There is nothing that can keep her down, and there is nothing that prevents her from living her best life.

“She helps me think things through,” Danny added.

Kay keeps her head on straight, and she helps her family do the same. She helps them see the silver lining in situations, and she also helps them stick to their word.

Kay pushes her family to strive for greatness too, and she believes in the power of commitment. She also believes in the power of caring about things and doing what makes you happy.

“Her passion inspires me,” Jarod said.

Whether it’s playing pickleball or tennis, or whether it’s sitting down and reading with a glass of wine in her hand, Kay shows so much passion in every area of her life. Even when she was working the many jobs she worked (including at a family friend’s business), she put her best foot forward and showed a lot of heart and care for what she did.

Kay is like that with her art too. In Jarod’s estimation, she has probably completed around 40 paintings, and many include combinations of sunsets, landscapes, animals and flowers. She really paints her heart on a canvas, and it is much to the admiration of her family.

What is also admired by Kay’s family is her heart for them. She loves every single one of her family members with all her heart, and she tends to drop the word “step” when talking about Jarod and/or his kids.

“She may have her favorites but still treats everyone the same,” Jarod said.

I mean, in reality, what grandmother does not have favorites in the back of her head? That’s just the reality of life for you.

But honestly, you would not know it by looking at the interactions Kay has with each of her grandkids and beyond. Her family is her family, and she loves them all with the entirety of her heart.

“Her grandkids are her love,” Danny said.

Her grandkids are her first love now, but before they came along, her kids were her everything (along with Danny). Kay has been there for them both through thick and thin, and she made sure they grew up in a warm, loving environment. She has always wanted what was best for her children, and she was not afraid to be the overprotective mother either.

“Ever since she married my father Danny Johnson, I have thought of her as a second mother,” Jarod said. “She is very caring, always helped me with school projects and attended all sporting events. She’s a typical California girl with blond hair and beautiful blue eyes. They have always thrown awesome parties that wanted to be attended by their friends, and eventually mine. Everyone loves her laugh.”

There is so much more to unpack about the amazing woman that is Kay, but there is only so much room on a page. What should be highlighted though is the fact that everyone wants to be around her and everyone loves her outstanding personality. Kay can light up any room with her presence and her laugh, and she is truly a people person.

Her family and friends all care so much about Kay, and they know how much she has gone through to get to this point in life. They do not take her for granted, and they cherish who she is. Truly.

“WE LOVE YOU KIKI!!!” – Jarod & the grandkids
