The ultimate inspiration, a baddie, a confidence booster, and loving are just some of the words that have been used to describe Annie Camacho. Annie plays many roles in her life and for her family as a teacher, hype woman, mother, wife and overall inspiration as she continues to thrive no matter what she’s been through in life.
“My wife has worked hard for everything she has. She has always been focused on the happiness of her children,” said Joseph. “At any cost, she provides what they need for sports, school, the best parties, taking care of their mental health and so much more.”
Annie was born in Oxnard, California growing up in a rough neighborhood. However, when she was 20 years old, she had the wherewithal and drive to move to Fremont, California with her son Carlos.
“How much of a baddie do you have to be to pick up and move away from your hometown to make a better life for you and your kid just as your adulthood is beginning? She’s been a Rockstar ever since, not letting the never-ending responsibilities of motherhood deter her from accomplishing her own personal goals, still finding the drive to get an education and a job she loves, and still having enough love to give to her amazing husband,” said Carlos. “She grew up in an environment without a lot of resources and still turned into a generous, loving, empathetic, resourceful, driven, funny, and just all-around amazing person to be around.
In a nutshell, what I love about my mom is that she’s the ultimate inspiration.”
Carlos was her first-born son and is now 30 years old, but she has also raised 19-year-old Michael and 8-year-old Mikayla. However, a large part of that journey has been the love she’s shared with her husband Joseph.
Annie and Joseph first met while serving at a seafood restaurant when Annie was 25 years old, and Joseph was 19 years old. Joseph felt that Annie was out of his league, but lucky for him she asked him to come for drinks with her and some other servers one night, which is where their undeniable chemistry began to develop. The couple never looked back.
“Everybody loves [her]. She makes me search for how I can become a better person. She taught me the power of positivity and the destruction of negativity,” said Joseph. “I have been in love with her for over half my life. I hope I can one day say that I have been by her side 99.9999 percent of my life.”
Annie’s family all appreciate how much she does for them, but Annie has built an impressive life outside her family as well. She has graduated with two Master’s degrees, both in teaching.
She taught for 15 years to the point where she is now so skilled that she is teaching teachers how to teach. She is always receiving letters from students and families expressing their gratitude for her positive impact.
Annie has many activities she enjoys pursuing in her spare time as well like paddle boarding, watching live music, sunbathing, poolside and going to Cache Creek Resort and spa. Despite all of this, she still makes time to be an incredible mother. Her family couldn’t be prouder to celebrate this Mother’s Day.
“One of the things she has always said to me is, ‘It’s important to me that our kids always have a safe place to fall.’ This is what she does daily,” said Joseph. “She asks questions and listens. She makes sure their bellies are fed before they go to bed. She checks homework, drives and attends practices, not just games. SHE NEVER TELLS THEM THEY’RE NOT ABLE. She empowers them to make a decision and work for it. She sets an example for our kids through action.”
“Her humility makes her a good person… She truly is the best. Furthermore, she has been through so many rough experiences that she would have every right to be jaded, but she doesn’t let those rough experiences get in the way of appreciating the many MORE amazing experiences she’s had,” said Carlos. “I think her raising me with humility is what has made me as content of an adult as I am today. She raised me in a way that made me feel like I was the center of the universe, but also instilled in me the idea that I couldn’t make the world better by just existing and expecting things to work out, but by actively being a kind light for others. I just can’t imagine having a better mom.”
“She is nice and loving,” said Mikayla. “She is funny and cheers at my games.”
One of Annie’s favorite places to go is Disneyland, which makes sense because she is like a real-life Disney princess having made it through improbable circumstances to be deeply appreciated by her family as the person who makes their world more magical.
