Rachel Mitchell and Jeffrey Deacon took the leap in 2022 and changed everything for themselves and their blended family. Two became one when they moved in together after four years of dating, which brought change, adjustment and excitement to them and their children Jace, Palmer, Serena and CK.
The challenges in that process were apparent and real, but Rachel’s presence single-handedly made it run smoother and more lovingly. She is a joy to be around, a generous girlfriend and a selfless mother who is always ready to sacrifice for the benefit of their children. Having that type of presence in their home has become a staple for their new family.
“She is THE most generous person in the world,” Jeffrey said. “Rachel is constantly looking after everyone, making sure they have everything they need and that they are supported in their own endeavors.
“It is amazing what Rachel can accomplish in a day. We often joke about a ‘productivity rating’ because she can do so much in a day and it amazes me.”
That’s not the only way Rachel amazes Jeffrey.
The couple has a unique mutual respect in that they are both single parents and budding entrepreneurs. Her talent and drive fuel her impeccable “productivity rating” and allow her to work full-time as a marketing pro while building a booming business on the side. Straightened Spaces is now in two markets and has employees on the payroll, which is a testament to Rachel’s tireless work ethic.
At the same time, she doesn’t miss a thing at home and invests countless hours into Serena’s soccer and the boys’ hockey. Rachel has an eye for design, which helps in both of her professional endeavors, but she also burns with purpose 24 hours a day.
It’s perhaps the only way she can make such a large impact in so many unique areas of her life.
“Rachel is fiercely motivated and probably the most productive person on the planet,” Jeffrey said.
There’s that word again: productive.
It’s more than just a word to describe Rachel, but rather a way of life that allows her to always put her best foot forward. She’s not so task-oriented that she can’t see the forest for the trees, nor is she so focused on work that she’s absent at home. Rachel wants it in all areas of her life, and she simply finds a way to make it happen in the time she has.
Jeffrey has such deep admiration for her and her ability to balance all the moving parts in her life without making it seem like she’s ever in a rush. He was captivated by her on their first date, when they dined alone in an empty restaurant in February 2018, and he’s been amazed by her ever since.
Jeffrey feels blessed beyond measure to find a partner who shares his joint passions for family and making big business moves. She gets him. He gets her, and they are better together than he would ever hope to be on his own. They’ve shared so much in four amazing years, and Jeffrey can’t wait to see what comes next for them and their new family.
“She is my world,” he said. “We are partners in a crazy hectic life and I would be lost without her. Through all the ups and downs that life has thrown at us in the past year I love you Rachel. You have sacrificed so much for our family to be where it is and I appreciate it so deeply in my soul.
“I am a very lucky man to have you in my life and as we look forward to welcoming our own child into this world it is so important that we take time to recognize everything you have done in 2022.”
