Family first.
You hear that a lot these days, even from people that don’t really live their lives that way.
For Katy Argueda, she doesn’t need to talk about it because she walks the walk every single day.
“She works full-time yet still gets the kids to school, all of their meals, and to all of their practices. She does it all,” said husband Moises.
“She’s the backbone of the family. Without her, I wouldn’t have my career. She’s the best mom for my kids. I got very lucky finding her when I did. She’s the one that keeps me and all of the kids together as a family.”
That’s not to say it’s been easy. It hasn’t.
Moises went to boot camp shortly after the couple found out Katy was pregnant with Charlyie. He came home for a few hours before shipping off to Germany and barely saw them for a year and a half other than when he came home for leave.
That didn’t stop Katy from taking care of the kids and the household by herself that entire time. It takes a very special woman to be able to handle everything while her husband serves overseas. That’s why many people note that it’s not just the man who serves, it’s the entire family, especially the spouse that serves our country.
Her sacrifice for Moises and his job wasn’t over when his service was, however, as he still spends a lot of time away from home in his job as a truck driver, yet Katy still manages to do it all. That includes working from 5pm-1am in her job as a manager at a local restaurant.
That’s why it was so important for Moises to get Katy something special for Valentine’s Day this year.
“I’m not a very good gift giver,” he said. “I just don’t have that kind of thought process, I guess. I heard about this on the radio and wanted to think outside the box. What better way to show her how I feel than have a story written about her?”
The irony, of course, is that Katy doesn’t need really need anything special from him. It’s one of the things Moises admires the most about her.
“I love how simple she is. She’s not one of those females that needs fancy gifts all the time. She’s down to earth. She likes the more sentimental and emotional things. She wants me around her and she wants everything that is best for the family.”
She’s the type of selfless person that goes out of her way to go to a sporting event with Moises even though it’s not her thing just because she can see that he’s having a great time.
She appreciates the little things, like taking her kids to special restaurants, old school 80s and 90s music and movies, and anything that has to do with Disney. She adores her sisters and is beyond excited about becoming an aunt for the first time.
It’s no wonder Moises loves her so much and wanted to send an important message:
“That she’s appreciated. That everything she does I love because I don’t think I tell her enough. I’m more of an object type of person. I’m not very good at showing her how I feel and I just want her to believe me when I tell her I appreciate everything she does and that’s why I am so in love with her.”
