There are many strong and independent people in this world. However, there are not many who are quite as strong or independent as Lygia Haye is.
Born in Brooklyn back in the 50s, Lygia is an only child who was raised well by her own mother. This helped shape her into the mother that she became, as Lygia wound up having to raise her two children – Allister and Tumoor – on her own.
And boy did she do a great job of this.
Tumoor and Allister both look up to their mother in many ways, and they are both super appreciative and grateful of the role model that she is. She is their guiding light and the one person who was there to tell them to own up to their mistakes and become better because of them.
Not only that, but Lygia epitomizes hard work and was also just a very nurturing and all-out loving mother.
“She’s just great all the way around,” Tumoor said. “Mom worked very hard. She was a single mom. She was always in education. She was at the elementary school we went to. She’s hyper intelligent and she is super awesome.”
Lygia has a lot of smarts, and she always found ways to look after her children. She stayed involved in their lives, and they both know she went to great lengths for them.
Allister and Tumoor are not the only people Lygia has gone to great lengths for either. She has been there for her family through thick and thin, and she has been a reliable, trustworthy person that many of them look up to.
“My mother is a strong woman who has sacrificed repeatedly for her family,” Allister said. “She is a dependable provider who gives of herself. She demonstrates her love through thoughtful gifts and tangible gestures. She cares deeply for her loved ones.”
One of the many ways Lygia shows her selflessness is through giving. Whether it is her giving of her time or of anything else, she is just happy to help out in any way possible.
This makes her a great friend to many as well, as Lygia is there for other people outside of her family too. If she cares about you, she is going to show it.
She is definitely going to always show the love she has for her grandchildren. Those four, along with her step-granddaughter, are the lights of Lygia’s world. She did so much for her kids growing up, and now she feels extra blessed that they returned the favor by giving her grandkids.
“What makes her great to them is the fact that she is always there for them,” Tumoor said. “They are involved in a lot of activities. In the end, she is just as supportive as the parents. They love the fact that she is always around. Whether it’s dinner or something smaller, she is always there.”
Lygia certainly knows how to show her love for others. She is a present soul and someone who is always cheering her loved ones on. She is a great supporter and a wonderful woman all-around.
And of course, if you could not tell already, Lygia is full of strength. Life has thrown her many curve balls, but with every one of these obstacles she has fought to get to the other side in amazing ways.
“My mother has taught us how to persevere no matter the circumstances,” Allister said. “When times are tough and not turning out the way we expect, my mother instilled in us a drive to keep striving toward our goals.”
Even when you might not see it right away, the other side is worth working toward. Never giving up on her goals and dreams is one of the many things that makes Lygia special, as is her altruistic personality.
“She is good to others by giving of her time,” Allister reiterated. “She is always willing to lend a helping hand.”
This is something that cannot be said enough, as it is a huge part of who Lygia is.
Another huge part of who Lygia is is a great role model to her children, as there are a thousand or so reasons as to why they both still look up to her to this very day. Their mother is amazing, and they love her so, so much.
“I just want her to know that all of her hard work has paid off. Her family has grown to become a wonderful, hardworking and loving extension of who she is. I want her to know she can step back and watch what she has achieved grow into something that was greater than anything she could have imagined. We are where we are because of her, and we are all eternally grateful.” – Tumoor
