‘To The Moon & Back’: Lindsey’s family loves and appreciates her more than she could imagine

June 10, 2023Many people believe they have the best mom in the world. But is it really true? When examining the evidence for Ricki Keil’s claim to be Mom of the Year, there’s a compelling case.
Ricki is both a mother and a nurse in the emergency room – which alone is enough for her husband, David Carrell, to lead her Mom of the Year campaign.
“Being an ER nurse tells you what kind of person she is,” Carrell said. “She is a very strong woman and caring of everyone. We are appreciative of her and everything she does for all of us.”
The daughter of Dave and Dana Keil, Ricki got to know Carrell while playing horseshoes barefoot and drinking beers. From that moment, it was apparent to David that he found a special person.
“She’s caring, funny, beautiful, and has a loving heart,” Carrell said. “She is my best friend.”
Together, Ricki and Carrell have enjoyed memorable trips to Washington, Las Vegas, Nashville, and Florida.
“No matter what, we are going through this crazy thing called life together,” said Carrell.
Carrell knows first-hand how Ricki gives unwavering support and elevates the people around her to be the best version of themselves. She is an excellent wife, friend, and “the best mom ever,” as Carrell says.
The couple has two children together, 16-year-old Saylor and 7-year-old Cash.
Saylor loves getting her nails done with Ricki, as well as going on shopping sprees and having girl days together. She appreciates her mom for many reasons, including Ricki’s generosity to Saylor’s brother Ayden at Christmas.
“My wife bought Ayden Christmas presents while Saylor played with the boys at Chuck E. Cheese,” Carrell said. “It shows the extent of Ricki’s love and dedication for Saylor to make Saylor’s brother happy on Christmas.”
For Cash, he enjoys his days out with his mom, which often include visits to the pool, McDonald’s PlayPlace, and SkyZone. Sometimes they get ice cream, go to Casey’s after school, or engage in wrestling, as well.
“Cash loves his wrestling matches versus Mom,” said Carrell.
With both children, Ricki is incredibly patient and by her example she is teaching the kids to be good people to each other and the rest of the world.
“Cash and Saylor love their mom very much for everything she does day in and day out for them,” said Carrell. “She does all the things great moms do.”
The evidence is clear: Ricki really is Mom of the Year.
