“The only unconditional love in the world is the mother’s love. My mother is an inspiration of hard work. Through ups and downs and in every step of life, she holds my hand and supports and encourages me. No matter what happens, my mother is always there beside me, cheering me up and motivating me.”

The way Veronica Smith describes her mother is enough to bring tears to your eyes. It is a great reminder of the love that a mother should have for her children.

In particular, it shows the love her mother has always had for her and her brother Rex. Brenda knows exactly what it means to love like a mother and always make those selfless sacrifices. She has done so time and again throughout her children’s lives, and she has never not been there for them.

She is also a faith-driven woman. This helped shape her into the mother she was and still is, along with the grandmother she now is. Keeping in line with her values has truly made Brenda a one-of-a-kind woman who loves her family and who instills so much into them.

“She has taught me to love God,” Veronica said. “How to be a hard worker. Love your family. Respect people.”

Brenda retired from the post office back in 2017 after putting decades of hard work into her job. It was not always easy, but she had a lot of passion for what she did, and she has a work ethic like no other. She also had a drive to always provide for her children, which is why she always put her best foot forward.

She loves people too, as Brenda is the kind of friend that a lot of people are drawn to. She treats her friends like family by always being there for them and always putting them well above herself.

“She has always sacrificed to make her family and friends happy,” Rex said.

Of course, Brenda is a tremendous family woman too. She has made countless sacrifices as a mother over the years, and now she gets to do the same for her granddaughter, India. That girl is the light of Brenda’s world, and in a way she is Brenda’s cherished reward for all the blood, sweat and tears she put in as a mother.

Even to this day, Brenda is a role model to Veronica and Rex, and she is someone India also looks up to. All three of them cherish every life lesson they have learned from her, and they know the people they are today is because of Brenda.

“She gives good feedback and is always a listening ear when needed,” Rex said.

No matter what, Brenda is there for her family. She cares so much about them and is their biggest pillar of support. She loves them with all her heart, and it really is clear she was born to be a mother.

Part of being a mother is making great memories with your kids. Sharing special moments with them goes a long way, even if it means taking your kid to the hospital because he can’t swallow a pill… or taking your daughter to the candy store to get her favorite lentil-shaped colorful candies.

“I remember going to concerts with her to see some of her favorite old school R&B artists,” Rex said. “And planning her grandchild’s birthday parties.”

Brenda has a fondness for soulful music, which is fitting considering how amazing a soul she is. She shows up and she shows out, and she deserves to be honored because of that.

“All mothers in the world are great, and so we should not celebrate their contribution in our life but every day of the year and throughout their life,” Rex said. “It is because no gesture of appreciation is ever enough when it comes to acknowledging our mother. Her selfless love and sacrifice are the most precious of all gifts. She is very loving and caring.”

Brenda has spent the entirety of her life giving and giving, and her kids hope she will receive this token of appreciation. They know they cannot even begin to repay her for everything she has done for them (nor would she want them to), but they hope she does realize that she is recognized and she is beloved by everyone.

“I truly love my mother and wouldn’t trade her for anything or anyone else in the world. Thank you for your unconditional love and endless support. No matter how far I go, your love is always my safe place to fall back to.” – Rex & Veronica
