‘Beautiful Daija’: From ordinary to adventure

In many movies, the “meet-cute” scene depicts a young man who is searching for a perfectly ripe fruit and accidentally bumps his cart into a girl who appears to have everything under control. He nervously laughs, and she responds with a smile and hands him the perfect apple. This leads to a blossoming romance. 

However, when Bryant met Daija Perry, it wasn’t during a shopping trip. They both worked at Weis Markets, with Bryant in customer service and Daija managing the produce section. They had a few conversations during work hours, and over time, Bryant began to notice Daija more and more. 

She was always willing to lend a helping hand, went out of her way to show kindness to customers, and had an amazing smile. Bryant started to call her “beautiful” when he saw her, and that made her smile even more. The friendship grew into a romance that continues today. 

Over the last three years, they have gone on countless adventures together. Bryant remembers the date of every one of them. One that stands out took place on November 11, 2020, at the MGM. It was this night that he asked Daija to make things official. 

“I gave her a crystal ball that had a flower inside it and asked her to be my girl,” he said. She agreed with that perfect smile and hugged him. 

Other fond memories together include: ice skating at Pentagon Row, their boat ride on the Anacostia River, and snow tubing in Deep Creek, Maryland. 

Bryant and Daija are not only experts on constructing the perfect date, but they also enjoy traveling. Together they explored the boardwalk of Atlantic City, cruised the blue waters of the Bahamas, and stood in the shadow of the Statue of Liberty. 

Along with her passion for adventure, Daija values loyalty, family and generosity. “She never gives up on me. Even when I make mistakes, she is always there to love me. She has a positive outlook on life and she is resilient,” said Bryant. 

A relationship that began as a conversation at work has grown into a deep love and affection for one another. They met ordinarily, and it led to a life full of adventure. 

They could be sitting at a Steelers game or having a game night with friends and family. They could be hitting the spa to relax, or swinging the clubs at TopGolf. They could be celebrating New Year’s Eve or dressing up for Halloween.

No matter what they are doing or where it may take place Bryant wants Daija to know how much he loves her and appreciates her.

“I never thank her enough for all she does for me and us.”
