Angie Probst and her daughter and granddaughters in front of a neon menu sign

Angie Probst is an amazing wife and mom who lives to help others and loves spending time with her family.

As the mom of two girls, Megan and Lauren, and two boys, Austin and Dalton, Angie exercised a lot of patience and understanding while raising the kids.

“We have learned so much from her,” Megan said. “Her always positive attitude helped us become better people because she taught us to be patient and understanding.”

Angie met her husband, Phil, at the “Brickbat,” and had their first actual date at Phil’s friend Todd Weber’s couch burning party. Their first official date was at Phil’s brother’s wedding, and he already knew she was “The One.”

“After that date, we never looked back,” Phil said. “She has always been so caring and understanding, patient and kind.”

The couple got engaged at the Brickbat in 1993 and were married a year later on June 25, 1994.

Angie worked as a bank teller at the beginning of their marriage, but once she became a mom, she spent all her time with her children, including volunteering at Grove Elementary. Her love of children extends beyond her own kids to her current job at Newton Elementary helping children with special needs.

She is incredibly thoughtful, often checking in with her family members who are going through tough times. She helped take care of her mom after she broke her hip, visiting her every evening after work.

“She is not a healthcare worker, but she was willing to learn in order to help her mom get the best possible care,” Lauren said.

The family went on many family vacations when the kids were growing up, which Phil said are his favorite memories. Dalton agreed that those trips were amazing, especially when the family went to Niagara Falls.

Angie enjoys going on trips with her husband and friends, especially to St. Louis Cardinals games or soaking up the warm sunshine in Florida.

Angie is also a grandmother to a baby girl named Kendra, who is Megan’s daughter. Kendra loves cuddling with her, and Megan loves that her mom is a natural grandmother and the greatest grammy to Kendra.

“Sometimes she is the only one who can get Kendra calmed down and that is just so special,” Megan said.

Megan’s husband, Jason added that he is thankful for all the help that Angie has given and continues to give them.

Lauren said her mom is always there to support us including when she supported me when I was the homecoming queen and in the Jasper County fair queen pageant.

“Thanks to her support, I was able to become a nurse,” the girls said. “We will never forget the pride she had when we passed nursing school.”

Angie cares so much about her kids’ needs that she is always there to lend a helping hand. Austin said something similar to how he is very appreciative for everything his mom did for him, and he is thankful her example of being a hard worker rubbed off on him.

Family will always come first for Angie, including extended family like nieces and nephews. Angie has about 100 and she remembers all their birthdays because they are all important to her.

She drops everything for her husband, daughters, sons, son-in-laws, and most importantly, her granddaughter.

Angie is always doing “behind the scenes” things for her husband and kids, and they all want her to know that it does not go unnoticed.

She does not need the recognition. She does it because she cares. She is always there for others and always will be.

Oh, and Chad, whose favorite memories are all the family day trips, said he is excited to officially be joining the family come July when he marries Luaren.

“The past three decades have been the best years of my life,” Phil said. “I love you and look forward to growing old together.”

“Mom, we love you very much and we want you to know how important you are to us,” the kids said. “Thank you for everything you have done for us and the lessons you taught us. We are all good people because of watching you. Happy Mother’s Day!”
