Success runs through Evan Wash Anderson’s veins, and this week is a great reminder of that.
This Sunday is Mother’s Day, which is a great opportunity to celebrate Evan for the amazing mother that she is. However, today is also her graduation day, which is a great opportunity to celebrate her for all the hard work she has put in.
As the old adage goes, “hard work pays off.” For Evan, she has learned that firsthand. Being a professional counselor has been a dream of hers, and wanting to achieve this dream helped her push through all the late nights of submitting assignments while making sure her 3-year-old son Jimmy was taken care of first and foremost.
“Evan knows what she wants to do with her life, which is to help people and be a contributing member to society,” Evan’s mother-in-law Martha said. “She wants to make a difference in this world. To have watched her spend her days as a brand-new mom, maneuvering through a new job, working on her master’s degree completing assignments into the late night and early morning hours was truly inspiring.”
Not only has Evan worked hard, as she worked full-time while being pregnant and beginning her master’s degree program, but as her mother Cathy pointed out, she did all this amidst a global pandemic.
What is even more amazing is the fact that, while it is her dream that she was achieving, she did not set this goal for herself. She did it because she is the most selfless woman in the world, and she wants to help people as much as possible.
Her family got to see just how much drive, passion and dedication Evan had too, as she never gave up. Even on the toughest of days when trying to juggle and balance everything in her life, Evan managed to stay the course.
“She has managed to stay focused, earn her master’s with high distinction, excel at her job (earning promotions) and being an attentive and exceptional parent,” Cathy said. “Oh, and if this isn’t enough, she runs marathons in her ‘spare’ time. She is truly amazing, and I could not be more proud of her accomplishments.”
So you are telling us that Evan not only managed to begin raising a family while working full-time and taking high-level college courses, but she received high grades in the process and ran a half marathon while carrying her son in the womb? Talk about guts, grits and determination.
And to top it all off, this college graduation is extra meaningful for Evan as her father earned his master’s degree on May 11 as well. It is his college graduation anniversary, and Evan’s family knows her father is looking down on her proud as can be.
Of course, her college graduation is just the half of it. While she is being celebrated today for all her academic accomplishments and achievements, Evan will be celebrated again on Sunday for being one of the most outstanding mothers on the face of the planet.
She has already passed off her brains onto Jimmy, and she will continue to do so much more for him as he grows.
“Evan is a natural at being a mom, which she definitely learned from her own mother,” Martha said. “She encourages Jimmy to explore, be himself, express his emotions, take reasonable chances, introduces him to new experiences, and keeps loved ones’ memories alive so Jimmy will know who and where he came from,” Martha said. “She always gets down on his level and makes him feel important, heard and extremely loved.”
Family is super important, and so is lineage and heritage. That is why Evan devotes so much of her time to making sure Jimmy knows where he came from. This is not something that is taught very often anymore, but it is definitely something that is important to teach.
There’s also the fact that Evan has worked hard for everything in life. This means she is living life by example for her son, and her family knows he will learn to take after her work ethic.
Her family also knows Jimmy is one of the most nurtured and cared for 3-year-olds you will meet. He is the top priority for Evan, and she loves to shower him in love.
This should not come as a surprise either, as not only have people always said Evan was born to be a mom, but her husband James said the moment she officially became a mom is one of his favorite memories ever.
“The day our son was born,” James said. “That was the most amazing day. We love our son more than anything. And pretty much every day we are home as a family is a beautiful memory!”
Evan is turning moments into memories and she makes the Anderson house a home. She is the glue that holds them together, and James certainly loves their little family.
Jimmy is also afforded the opportunity to grow up in a very loving household where his parents are there for each other at all times. Evan always has James’ back, and she is a model of consistency and compassion, showing what a great wife looks like.
“Evan and James have a strong partnership based on love and mutual respect,” Martha said. “They balance and support one another. Without James, she would not have been able to achieve all this.”
Credit where credit is due. Much like Evan is the most supportive and loving wife, James is an equally supportive and loving husband.
Although he may tell you everything they have and everything they’ve achieved and accomplished is because of Evan.
“She always supports me and is understanding,” James said. “Evan encourages me. She brings out the best version of myself. She helps me be the best father I can be.”
While Evan is a truly wonderful woman in her own right, she helps other people reach their full potential too. She sees the good in everyone, and that makes her a great wife, mother, daughter, friend and so much more.
“She is a great listener and offers amazing support for her friends and family,” James said. “She is caring and will go above and beyond helping those close to her.”
Evan is willing to go the extra mile, and for that and many other reasons, she is loved and appreciated. Her friends and family know that she has worked so hard, and that is why she gets to be truly celebrated twice in four nights. She deserves it, and she should not let anyone tell her otherwise.
“Her husband and son Jimmy love her so very much and we are so blessed to have her in our lives!” – James
