When you have a website, SEOs (Search Engine Optimizations) are vitally important to growth. To this day we are still constantly working on ways of trying to improve our Search Engine Optimization, but here are five tips and tricks we find useful:
- Don’t repeat metadata – You want each page/post to be unique and for Google to not have to decide what to rank for because you have multiple posts/pages with the same metadata.
- Essentially, you do not want Google splitting time between multiple pages with the same metadata (page title and description). It is next to impossible to move them up the Google ranks at a formidable speed because they are always fighting for clicks and impressions.
- Instead, make sure each page has something unique about the title and description so Google does not think it is the same page. This will help you have a better chance of moving multiple pages up the Google ranks.
- Optimize existing content – It is never wrong to go back and update past posts/pages. You want to make sure it is up-to-date at all times.
- If the page did not do well at all in the first place, then going back and revamping the content might not move the needle. However, especially for a page that did really well, it is worth keeping tabs on it and making sure it is timely content.
- This is why many people suggest putting evergreen content out there. What this means is that the content will always be relevant and is not based on a specific date or time range.
- Focus on keywords – Figure out keywords you want Google to rank your website for and make it prevalent. You want to make sure that people can find you in basic search results.
- You are not going to rank for every keyword you want to… at least not at the beginning. You have to figure out which ones are the most important, though, and really hone in on hammering those keywords into a lot of your content.
- Quality over quantity – It is better to have high quality posts on your website with lots of keywords rather than 20 low quality posts that don’t have a chance to rank on Google.
- Google likes to rank things that are of high quality. That is why 200-word blog posts do not tend to be found a lot, unless they have really good or relevant content.
- If you write a longer post that is flourishing with keywords, however, you will have a much better chance of moving up the Google ranks for multiple keywords.
- Keep up with analytics – If you do not know how your website is ranking and do not pay attention to what is and isn’t working, then you will be left in the dust.
- This is ever-important, as it will help you realize the things you need to fix and the things that have a chance of making you fly up the Google rankings.
There are many more things to keep in mind that will help you climb up the Google ranks. However, these are five of the most vital that we think will help you really step up your SEO game.
